How does dermal filler affect premature ejaculation?
One of the main causes of premature ejaculation is over-sensitivity of the nerve endings in the head of the penis (glans). In dermal filler treatment, hyaluronic acid — the same substance used in lip fillers — is placed as a thin layer under the skin of the glans. This layer acts as a buffer between the nerve endings and external stimulation; sensitivity decreases and the ejaculation reflex is delayed. An additional benefit is an increase in the volume of the glans.
How is the procedure performed?
The procedure is performed in the clinic with very fine needles after a local anaesthetic cream, and takes about 15–20 minutes. There is no surgery, incision or stitches; the patient returns to daily life the same day. Intercourse can usually be resumed after one week.
How long does the effect last?
The hyaluronic acid used is absorbed naturally by the body over time. The effect lasts 12–18 months on average, depending on the person and the amount of product used; once it wears off, the treatment can be safely repeated.
Are there side effects?
Mild swelling, tenderness or bruising in the treated area may last a few days. Because hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body, the risk of an allergic reaction is very low, and it can be dissolved with an enzyme if necessary. Serious side effects are extremely rare when the procedure is performed by an experienced physician under sterile conditions.
Who is it suitable for?
Adult men with premature ejaculation and no active infection. The cause of the problem is assessed at the examination; if a hormonal or psychological cause is predominant, filler treatment can be combined with other methods.
